Police found the shooting victim following a 911 call shortly before 4 p.m. on Jule Peek Avenue in front a home near the intersection with Lynton Drive. Emergency personnel arrived soon after and found the 18-year-old gunshot victim and began treatment immediately after he was hit multiple times.

Officials have not yet released the name of the victim, nor where he was taken following the incident.

CPD sought out the help of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation following the shooting, and after police worked the case they identified three suspects and ultimately found the two men and the teen in Cedartown and took them into custody.

Police were able to determine that the shooting happened after an altercation between the trio and the victim earlier at a store, and they followed him home. The 16-year-old according to witnesses fired multiple times at the victim.

Here’s the full release from the City of Cedartown on the incident:

Cedartown, Ga. – February 15, 2024– An 18-year-old Cedartown man remains in medical care after he was shot multiple times in the front yard of his Jule Peek Avenue home.

According to police reports, Polk 911 received a call shortly before 4 p.m. on Wednesday, February 14, indicating that an individual had been shot on Jule Peek Avenue near the intersection of Lynton Drive. Cedartown Police and Cedartown Fire and Rescue arrived at the scene within minutes and discovered an 18-year-old male lying outside suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. First aid was rendered, and the victim was transported to a trauma center.

An investigation was launched by officers with the Cedartown Police Department after arriving on scene, and a call for assistance was made to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. From the investigation, three suspects were quickly identified and a search ensued. The suspects, a 16-year-old male, 24-year-old Alonzo Corenjo-Reyes and 27-year-old Luis Cornejo-Reyes, were apprehended in the area of Georgia Avenue and Canal Street. Several firearms were seized during the search. The suspects were arrested and charged with aggravated assault. The two adults are currently being held in the Polk County Jail. The juvenile is being held at a youth detention center.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the shooting stemmed from a physical altercation that took place earlier that day at a local retail store between one of the suspects and the victim.

Investigations lead law enforcement to believe that the suspects sought out the victim, located him, exited their vehicle, and pursued him in his front yard while firing multiple gunshots. Eyewitness accounts place a firearm in the hands of the 16-year-old, shooting and striking the victim multiple times, causing serious injuries.

The victim remains in medical care.
