VOTE 2024: Election audit comes back with tallies aligned

The audit of Polk County’s Primary Election is complete, and all the numbers lined up like they were supposed to per the latest release from the Polk County Elections Director.

Elections Director Noah Beck reported that the two-day, 100% audit of the election completed from Thursday morning through Friday afternoon was completed without any issues being found.

“The Board of Elections would like to thank staff and auditors that worked diligently to ensure every ballot was counted so that Polk County voters could be confident in the results produced on Election Night,” Beck said in an email on Monday morning.

As the results are now audited and complete, the Board of Elections is moving onto the next round with runoffs to complete local voting on two County Commission races.

The District 1 race between incumbent appointee Jordan Hubbard and challenger Michael Gravett will round out the 2024 local vote, along with the District 3 race between incumbent Ray Carter and challenger John Paschal is coming up on June 18.

Early voting for the week of June 10 through June 14 will be available at the Cedartown and Rockmart precincts.

The Democratic ballot includes the runoff for the District 14 house seat challenger to GOP Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene.

More coverage of the forthcoming start of early voting will be available on Tuesday.
