VOTE 2024: Record-setting early voting figures heading into Election Day in Polk

Three weeks of early voting, and Polk County hit record figures for getting local residents to the polls before Election Day.

More than half of the registered voters locally have already cast their ballot in the 2024 General Election set to get underway on Tuesday morning to cap off what has been a long campaign for the presidency.

The final tally heading into Election Day of ballots cast so far was 14,924 in total, or just over 51% of the 28,752 registered voters who call Polk County their home. Out of that total, 7,524 ballots were cast at the Goodyear Civic Center in Cedartown and 6,810 voters visited the Rockmart precinct at the Rockmart Community Center.

Some 572 absentee ballots were cast by mail and made it back to the Board of Elections office in Cedartown ahead of Election Day on Tuesday.

Elections Director Noah Beck said that he was glad to see the turnout end with a big figure as early voting concluded.

“The Polk County Board of Elections and staff are pleased that voters have utilized early voting in record numbers this year,” he said. “This election is projected to be one of the highest turnouts in the nation’s history, and we hope that Polk County voters who didn’t already make it are a part of this moment by making it to the polls on Election Day.”

Voters can begin heading to one of seven polling places beginning on Tuesday morning, November 5, 2024 at 7 a.m. Precincts remain open until 7 p.m.

Ballots will then be taken to the Board of Elections office at 144 West Ave., Cedartown for counting.

Expect early voting tallies to be available first, followed by precincts as they arrive to process their boxes.
