VOTE 2025: Early voting totals countywide end first week past 1,400 for March 18 ballot

Polk County election officials are keeping up the count of ballots cast, and as of the close of business on Saturday voting they closed out with more than 1,400 voters visiting the polls.

Some 1,414 people had cast a ballot by the end of the day on Saturday, March 1, per the Board of Elections page.

That broke down to 849 voters visiting the Cedartown precinct, and 565 voters at the Rockmart precinct for early voting.

Polls opened again this morning for early voting through business hours this week, and one more Saturday voting day at the Cedartown precinct only coming up this weekend. Hours for voting are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Ballots can be cast at the Cedartown precinct at 108 Prior St. at the Goodyear Civic Center, or at the Rockmart precinct at 605 Goodyear Ave., Rockmart.

The March 18 election featuring a countywide bond referendum sought by Polk School District which would add a mill of taxes for upward of 20 years to payoff the debt of bond sales up to $34 million. Cedartown voters are deciding whether to give the city redevelopment powers to negotiate a Tax Allocation District, or TAD, for a project at Davis Road and the Hwy. 27 bypass.

Aragon voters were set to cast their ballot for a special election for the seat left open by the passing of Council Member Donnie Canada, but only David Spaulding sought to get on the ballot and thus is the only candidate running to serve.
