Voting now open for Ferst Readers of Polk Countys favorite reindeer fundraiser

A local organization asks you to decide whether your favorite reindeer is Dasher or Dancer, maybe Prancer or Vixen in a fundraising event for the holidays to help spread youth literacy throughout the community.

Ferst Readers of Polk County have the help of some community leaders this holiday season who have taken on the roles of Santa’s nine reindeer for the 2021 season in the inaugural Who is Your Favorite Reindeer fundraiser.

Make a donation and vote here.

Each vote is $5 and raises money for Ferst Readers to be able to send books on a monthly basis from the time a child is born until they reach Kindergarten in Polk County, across Georgia, and around the country in multiple states.

Dasher is being portrayed by Sheriff Johnny Moats, Matt Foster has taken up the role of Dancer, Rockmart Police Chief Randy Turner dressed up as Prancer, CHS Principal Scott Hendrix is Vixen, Comet is being played by Rockmart Mayor Sherman Ross, Edward Guzman has donned a nose and antlers to be Cupid, Donner is Bernard Morgan, and in what seems to be the perfect role, Blitzen was taken up by Rockmart Yellow Jackets head football coach Biff Parson.

Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer is being played by Marvin Williams, the headmaster of Murphy Harpst Children’s Center in Cedartown.

The reindeer with the most votes gets bragging rights for the 2021 fundraising event and gets to help ensure that youth get books on a monthly basis to help increase childhood literacy locally and around the nation.

Ferst Readers can fund a child for a year for just $36. That’s eight votes for a reindeer in the contest.

Check back for more on the fundraiser before it closes out later this month.
