Though seating is staggered and the number of movies limited to two, Polk County’s storied movie theater opened back up to the public on Friday evening after months of being closed for the COVID-19 crisis.
Owner Michael Tinney opened the doors but is requiring online ticket sales only at the historic West Cinema, which this weekend is showing Trolls World Tour and Jaws to a limited audience and just a single showing in each theater.
Tickets were still available midday Friday for 7 p.m. showtimes in both the large theaters this evening. Social distancing requirements, rules about entering a building while ill, and staggered seating to ensure the safety of the public are all in place at West Cinema for opening weekend.
Additionally, new digital signage to display movie posters was installed this week around the front entrances to West Cinema.
