Update:
A lone driver died this morning at the scene of a single car wreck this morning on the Highway 27 Bypass in Cedartown.
Cedartown Police Chief Jamie Newsome reported that one woman died on the scene of the wreck this morning just south of Cedartown High School.
A female driver not from the Polk County area was driving northbound on the Highway 27 bypass when she approached the intersection with Highway 278 and left the roadway right before reaching the overpass. Her vehicle came to rest in the median, Newsome reported.
She was not from the Polk County area, Newsome added.
Information about the driver will be released following notification of the family by Polk County Coroner Norman Smith.
Georgia State Patrol will be investigating the wreck since a fatality occurred.

A wreck has been reported with a fatality this morning at the intersection of the Highway 27 bypass at the intersection with Fairgrounds Road, just south of Cedartown High School.
Cedartown Police Chief Jamie Newsome said no additional information was immediately available, but asked drivers to please utilize a different route through town to avoid the scene.
Georgia State Patrol has been called out to investigate.
